Ancient settlement Tyritake

The ancient settlement of Tyritake was founded in the 6th century BC. Its peculiar design was determined by the fish salting complexes that played an important part in the building scheme of the city. In recent years Tyritake has been actively researched by experts from the Crimea Branch of the Institute of Oriental Studies (National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine). The aim of their work is not only to excavate, but also to preserve the monument. In the end of 2009 a plan was developed to turn the basilica of Tyritake, one of its chief show objects, into a museum object. As of now, the northern part of the settlement is ready to be included into the tour itineraries.
